Cultural Bodies Drafts

My first idea is to create a picture of the Virgin Mary. I chose this symbol because often we think of it as a symbol first and of her as a person second, like with so many religious and political figures, (barack obama, etc.). I chose this very stylistic version, as opposed to a classical one because I feel like it proves my point of cultural dominance further: that an organic being can be so fully immersed and taken over by culture hundreds of years later.

My second idea is less developed, but has similar themes about organic and cultural matter. I would depict mesh traditional native american symbolism with traditional american symbolism to highlight the discrepancies between our uses of culture and the native uses of culture.
