The Perfect Human: Movement from Misty Aeons on Vimeo.
Inspired by Jørgen Leth's 1967 short film "The Perfect Human" (as well as the 2003 documentary concerning its remaking, "The Five Obstructions"), "Movement" attempts to make the human musculature abstract and unrecognizable, in an effort to call attention to the very movements that allow for our survival and existence. By filming cropped parts of a body and layering the footage in various ways, the forms lose any humanlike quality, despite their original sources. The video was created for my Digital Media course at Grinnell College, spring of 2011.
The film was created by Caleb Neubauer, the music by Jimmy Tamborello, and the model will remain anonymous.
